Vet ongoing medication flyer: CMA Order rules
Give owners the standard ongoing medication flyer, showing your written prescription fee, the first time a repeat medicine is dispensed.
The RCVS has not yet published the ongoing medication flyer. It is due by the end of May 2027. This page will be updated when it is.
What the Order requires
- Given when a medicine is first dispensed as ongoing medication (a repeat of the same medicine for the same condition, including repeat parasiticides), or the second time if the first is not reasonably practicable.
- As a physical A5 flyer, printed on the dispensing bag at least as legibly, or by email at or straight after dispensing if the owner asks.
- Shows your current written prescription fee.
- The content is set by the CMA in Schedule 3 and distributed by the RCVS. Apply any update within one month.
- Not needed when the medicine is provided free at the point of dispensing, for example under a pet care plan.
How to fix it
- Order or print the flyer once the RCVS supplies it, and add your prescription fee.
- Add a dispensing step so the flyer goes out with the first repeat.
