How we check
A report reads the public pages of one practice website and compares them with the duties in our rules, version 2026-10-21.2. The rules are code. The model does not decide what the Order says.
Five results
- Passed: the evidence on the site met the checks for that duty.
- Partial: some of the evidence is there, and some is missing.
- Failed: we did not find the evidence on the pages we read.
- Couldn’t read: the page failed to load, was blocked, or was only an image. That is not a fail.
- Needs confirmation: the duty cannot be seen on a website. The practice answers it.
What the check can’t see
We read the public pages of your website, the way a pet owner would. That means some things are out of reach:
- Duties that don’t live on a website. Your complaint log, written estimates, itemised bills, what your vets say in a consultation, and notices displayed at reception. We ask you about these instead of guessing.
- Pages we can’t open. Anything behind a client login, or a site that blocks automated visitors. If this happens we tell you, and you can reply so we check it by hand.
- Text inside images. If your price list is a picture, we can’t read the prices.
- Some embedded widgets from other providers, and more than five PDFs.
A report is a snapshot of your website on the day we checked it. It is not an audit, and a green row is not a legal determination. Your practice remains responsible for complying with the Order.
A green row means the evidence on the website passed our checks. It is not a legal determination, and it does not mean the practice is compliant. The practice remains responsible for compliance.
Quotes in a report are copied from the page they cite. If a quote is not on that page, it is dropped. Where a fixed rule can count something, such as Schedule 1 service names or the prescription fee caps, that rule overrides the model.
Each report records the hash of the pages it read, the hash of the rules, and the model that judged them. The verify section on the report shows those values. How the crawler behaves.
